Getting to Know "Seborrheic Keratosis" and "Sebaceous Hyperplasia"
- Seborrheic Keratosis:Seborrheic Keratosis): This is the most common benign tumor of the outer skin layer. It appears as a raised papule, ranging in color from light brown to black, with varying sizes and shapes. The surface can be smooth or rough, similar to a wart. It's often found on the face, neck, chest, and back. The exact cause is unclear but may be related to genetics and aging.
- Sebaceous Hyperplasia:Sebaceous Gland Hyperplasia): This results from the abnormal enlargement of sebaceous glands. It appears as small, yellowish or skin-colored raised papules, often with a central depression or umbilication. It is commonly found on the face, especially the forehead and cheeks, in individuals with oily skin and increasing age.
CO2 CO2 Laser for the Removal of Skin Growths
The CO2 laser has a wavelength of 10,600 nm, which is highly absorbed by the water molecules that are the primary component of skin cells. The laser's energy rapidly converts to intense heat, allowing it to precisely cut and vaporize the excess tissue being removed without damaging the surrounding tissue.
